Questions, answered plainly
The questions we hear most often in the office, answered the way we answer them across the desk.
Getting started
What documents do I need for an auto quote?
Your driver's license, the vehicle identification number or registration, and the names and licenses of every driver in the household. If you have a current policy, the declarations page helps us compare.
How long does a quote take?
Auto and renters quotes usually take a few minutes. Home and business quotes take a day or two because we gather more detail and compare more carriers.
Do you charge a fee?
No. Independent agents are paid by the carrier when a policy is written. Your price is the carrier's price.
Can I do everything in Portuguese, Spanish, Kriolu or Haitian Creole?
Yes. Our team speaks all five languages every day, and you can read this site in each of them.
Auto
Do I need insurance before I register a car at the RMV?
Yes. The RMV requires a stamped RMV-1 form from your insurance agent. We issue it the same day.
I have a foreign driver's license. Can I get insured?
Usually yes. Some carriers give credit for driving history from Cabo Verde, Brazil, Haiti or the Dominican Republic and some do not. We know which ones do.
Do you offer SR-22 or high-risk auto insurance?
Massachusetts does not use SR-22 forms, but drivers with accidents or violations can still be insured. We compare carriers that accept your record.
What is the Safe Driver Insurance Plan?
The Massachusetts point system. At-fault accidents and violations add points that raise your premium for several years. We explain how to keep them off.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. Most carriers offer monthly payments with a down payment, and we will show the total cost of each option.
Home, business and life
Can you insure a three-family house?
Yes. Several carriers write two and three family homes. We compare options for owner-occupied and fully rented buildings.
Do you help with RMV registration paperwork?
We provide the RMV-1 form and explain what the RMV will ask for. We do not file the registration for you, but we make sure you arrive with everything.
What is the difference between an agent and buying direct?
Buying direct gives you one carrier's price. An independent agent compares several and explains the trade-offs, at the same price from each carrier.
Do you offer life insurance for people sending money to family abroad?
Yes. We help you name beneficiaries outside the United States and choose a policy that pays quickly, so family in Cabo Verde or Brazil is protected.
When do I need workers' compensation?
As soon as you have one employee in Massachusetts, including part-time. We set it up alongside your liability policy.
